Chapter One Reflections

When reading chapter one, there were so many things that came to mind when I tried to think about how students can learn about computers and how to use them.  I think that in this world today it is very important to implement technology into our classroom as much as we can.  By using problem finding, framing, and solving technique, I believe that it allows students to think about their questions and how to answer them and it enables them to answer it themselves.  This is so important for students because it requires them to use critical higher level thinking in order to solve their own problems or questions instead of asking someone else all the time and getting the answer tossed at them.  Once they have their answer, they are able to analyze that answer and make sense out of it in so many ways and using various strategies such at spreadsheets, outlining, and word processing.  I think the interactive graph map is a great way to gets students involved.  It engages them hands-on, yet they are using such advanced technology, and it lets them navigate their way through the map and through their learning.  Learning about hard drives and the software operating systems, this allows me as a teacher to know and understand my computer and how it works.  This is important because I cannot help my students with computers until I learn how to help myself.
